Based on Colombian novelist Héctor Abad Faciolince’s novel Fragments of Furtive Love – itself inspired by A Thousand and One Nights – this is a highly charged erotic tale of seduction and destruction.
Susana and Rodrigo are lovers. He is a composer who is still grieving the loss of his wife – also his muse – and unable to write music. Susana seeks to unlock his creative block by telling him stories of past loves, in titillating detail. He is at first reluctant to listen, but when they inspire the greatest pieces of his career, he becomes hooked. For Susana, these stories provide a shelter from the casual street violence of the outside world.
However, Rodrigo’s fascination leads him to blur the lines between fantasy and reality, and his obsession with Susana’s stories turns to jealousy that threatens to tear him and the lovers apart. Angélica Blandón is incandescent as Susana and José Ángel Bichir is a perfect counterpoint.
